A Tractor
goes to School The
first of the tractor in Schools educational
trips took place on 25th January at Turners
Hill School, Turners Hill, nr Crawley. Over
150 students from years 1 – 5 learnt all
about tractors and their role in the farming
environment. The visit organised by the
Farming and Countryside Education organisation
(FACE) was aimed at creating a link between
a tractor and different elements in the
primary school national curriculum with
the aim of encouraging kids and teachers
to look at becoming involved with tractors
as a technician or engineer as a possible
career in the future.
Ann Mudd,
Head Teacher at the Turners Hill was delighted
at the tractor visiting
the school, ‘we enjoy showing children different
industries and equipment and thought a tractor
would be something exciting for the kids.
Having the tractor in school proved to be
much better than we anticipated and the
involvement from the kids was much higher
than we expected. The teacher's pack we
were provided with enabled us to prepare
a full day of lessons for the kids in geography,
history, art, maths, English and ICT; this
made the day very much more productive than
we expected.’
